Gita Jayanti
Gita Jayanti celebrates
the origin of Shreemad Bhagwad Gita which is regarded as the supreme embodiment
of Hindu spiritual wisdom. It is observed on Shukla Paksha (eleventh day) in
Margashirsha month and is an Ekadashi day also known as Mokshada Ekadashi. Gita
Jayanti is the day when Lord Krishna taught Arjuna the lessons from Bhagvad
Gita in the battle of Kurukshetra. It was through ‘Bhagwad Gita’ that Shree
Krishna imparted knowledge about the right purpose and action of life to a
disoriented Arjuna. Shree Krishna explained the role of Karma and Dharma, its
various applications and the foundation of what is correct and what is
incorrect to Arjuna. Hence, on this day,
devotees venerate Lord Krishna and the sacred text of Bhagvad Gita to attain
peace of mind and attain the goal of life. This year, Gita Jayanti falls on Saturday,
the 23rd December 2023.
